9 thoughts…

July 27, 2009 · 2 Comments

Today is Monday.  What better day is there to post random thoughts on my blog?  Here we go…

1. People pulling trailers behind their vehicle should never be in the left lane.  Usually you aren’t going as fast as the other drivers on the road, and if you are, you are crazy and need to slow it down a little.  So kindly pull over a lane and keep us all safe.

2. I’m 25.  I’ve never felt so old.  But I’ve also never felt so young, immature, and unexperienced.  Every single day I realize I have so much growing up to do.  That scares me.  Does the growing up part of life ever stop?

3. I’m 25 and I don’t ask permission to do what I want. I am a grown woman, and I usually make decisions that are reasonably intelligent now.

4. I might be nice to your face, but if you are a backstabbing, social climbing, phony person, I know you are and I am just being polite.

5.  I like the fact that I can have a conversation with other women my age and talk about anything and everything.  It is awesome having close friends that I can feel comfortable with.

6. Speaking of comfort with friends, friends who you can eat Mexican food with in pajamas, while you watch tv, are priceless.  I love them and I can’t live without eating in pajamas with them.

7. I am a terrible saver. If I had saved 20% of my salary over the last 10 years, I would be in a much better position financially!

8. If I were on death row, my last meal would be chicken ‘n’ dumplings.  I can’t get enough of that dumpling goodness.  In fact, I’m having chicken ‘n’ dumplings for lunch today.

9. If I could add 4 extra hours to every day, I would spend 2 napping, 1 reading, and 1 cleaning.

Changes

July 17, 2009 · Leave a Comment

I’ve been thinking a ton about changes lately.  My parents are in talks with the Malaysian Government who is working on getting my father a work visa so they can move to Malaysia.  Malaysia!  They couldn’t move to Dallas or Denver…it has to be halfway across the globe.

I’m happy for them.  They are excited at the thought of moving and making some changes in their life.  It would mean changes in my life too.  I’d move out of my apartment and into their house to watch over their house and dogs.  It also means I’d be looking for a new job.  I too am excited about these changes.  Life has been boring and ho hum.

But all this has me thinking.  If everyone was so bored with life, why did we need something to make us make these changes?  Shouldn’t we have wanted to make these changes on our own?  Why didn’t we?  Were we lazy?  Unmotivated?  Satisfied with being unhappy?

If things don’t work out with the Malaysian Government I will definetly still make some changes in my life.  Aldous Huxley once said, “There’s only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.”  I’m ready to make some big improvments in my life!

Family Update

July 9, 2009 · 1 Comment

A large part of the reason I blog is to keep extended family up to speed about what our family is doing.  So here is a post about what my family has been up to.

My father – My father has been busy with several things.  First off, his most recent crop of tabacco has really taken a liking to all the warm weather we’ve been having.  As have his tomatoes, peppers, blueberries, lemons, limes and olives.  Everything is growing quite rapidly at my parent’s house.  When he isn’t gardening my father has been busy with filing all the legal documents for the formation of The Churchill Centre of Houston, Texas.  (They are basically a group of guys who sit around and talk about Winston Churchill and WWII history while enjoying good cigars.)  Because there was not a Churchill Centre in Houston yet (they have them all over the world) my father is the founding member and President.  He’s already met some interesting guys and is looking forward to having Winston’s grandson over for dinner in the near future.

My mother – My mother has been busy with work.  All the extra stimulus money that is filtering down to the non-profit community has kept her very, very busy.  She has been limited in what she can do thanks to her broken bones.  (We’ve seen a ton of movies lately.)  She goes to the doctor today for them to take her cast off, look at her foot, and recast it.  Having a leg in a cast over summer hasn’t been fun but she’s been a real trooper.

Joey – Baby brother has been dealing with frustrations that have come along when trying to become a Marine.  He wasn’t happy with his recruiter here so he’s going to see a recruiter in Louisiana who has promised to get him in the system at an earlier date.  However, this ‘earlier date’ is still October.  So Joey is currently looking for a job so that he can stay busy until he leaves.

Sarah – Sarah is all settled in at her new place.  She’s hanging pictures and adding final decorative touches and her place looks great.  (She decorated her house with a Texas theme.)  She’s been super busy with work and is loving being a coach at Mazeika’s Elite Gymnastics.  It is quite obvious that she loves what she does…and her teams girls love her back!

Jen – And what have I been up to?  Working away.  Work has also been busy for me thanks to the stimulus money.  I have so many friends out of work right now and it is a nice luxury to have a little job security.  In my spare time I’ve been reading Beautiful Boy and Catastrophe.  I’ve also been a huge dork and started trying to master The Sims 3.

So there you go.  That is a little family update.

Break a leg!

July 1, 2009 · Leave a Comment

So now is not a good time to be a Wysocki if you like your legs.  About two weeks ago my brother sprained his ankle while jogging.  While he was nursing it back to health my mother broker two bones in her foot by kicking my 100lbs. dog.  She didn’t do this intentionally.  The dog was running laps and ran into her foot as she was taking a step.

She went to the podiatrist and finally got her foot x-rayed.  He confirmed that she had broken it and she’s now in a cast for several weeks.  Then there is me.  While carrying my great grandmother’s milk glass vase out of my grandmother’s house, I trip over some bricks.  I sprained my ankle and cut up my other leg pretty badly.  Don’t worry; I saved the vase from destruction.

It was my body that I couldn’t save.  So Joey, my mother and I all look pretty pathetic sitting in the living room together with our feet up.  My father even made a special phone call to my sister to see if her legs were ok.  They are just fine…for now.
